POPE and PRESIDENT: Raised Up

The headlines screamed, Trump Is Turning the 2020 Election into an Abortion Referendum, and that’s fine with us. Bring it on!

Dennis and I have been in this war since 1971 when as young parents we operated a little extension office of the Washington State citizens organization, Voice for the Unborn, from our home in Lacey WA.

We lost that battle when Washington became the first state in the nation to legalize ‘rare, safe, only up to 3mos’ abortion by a vote of the people. Our state went quickly down from there, as did most of the rest of the country,  like a hand basket on it’s way to hell.

The prediction, that was called ‘insanely ridiculous’ at the time, of today’s Democrat led effort to allow a woman to choose to kill her full term, born child, is now a consequential reality of that first vote which was followed by the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade ruling in 1973.

Since that time the Democrat’s have upped the ante on their mantra from, “My body, my choice” to “My baby, my choice”.  They no longer deny that their ‘product of Abortion’ is not ‘just a clump of cells’, they now proudly acknowledge that it is nothing less than a dead human person.

It’s 2019 and we’ve hit rock bottom. There is no further down into the bowels of the netherworld that we can sink.

But we’re on the way back up.

It’s been a long, bloody, prayerful battle and we praise God every day that He has allowed us to live long enough to see the pendulum begin to swing back.  We are convinced, as are the majority of other faith believing Americans, that our present economic boom, which includes the lowest unemployment rate since 1969 (which is also the year the left began planning their assault on America’s Unborn citizens), is a direct result of God allowing Donald Trump’s presidential victory in 2016. Considering all the powerful people that were working to prevent it, there is no other explanation.

It was fifty years ago that the left began planning their assault on America’s Unborn citizens. It has been fifty years since America has enjoyed the prosperity she is presently experiencing. It was also fifty years ago that Pope Paul VI’s prophetic Encyclical, Humane Vitae (Of Human Life), was rejected by the world and by many in the Church, including clergy and hierarchy. And it has been fifty years that we have been suffering the results of the clergy sexual abuse scandal.

Coincidence? Hardly. When God’s own people fail to be righteous and holy in His sight, He raises up a stranger to set them straight again. Pope Francis was relatively unknown when he was elected to the papacy by a vote of over two-thirds of his brother Cardinals, and President Trump was a political outsider who was elected in spite of the Democrats (and even some Republicans) best, and illegal, efforts to prevent it.

Our vote for Donald Trump in 2016 was based on his #ProLife campaign promises and because he was the only viable candidate that would prevent Hillary Clinton from winning the White House and promoting her Culture of Death agenda.

We will vote again for Donald Trump in 2020 because he is a man of his word. He continues to advance the Culture of Life in America.  He is, truly, America’s first ProLife president. For whatever else some people, in their own minds, believe he gets ‘wrong’, one thing is for certain: President Trump works consistently to defend and secure the lives of our tiniest, most vulnerable citizens.

It is precisely President Trump’s pro-life position that brings on such venomous hatred from the left who have chosen to worship at the altar of abortion where they offer their human sacrifice.

The Unborn are at the bottom rung of the ladder. We can’t get any lower than waging genocidal war on our own. In order to establish justice for all, we must begin with the voiceless; the most defenseless; the most vulnerable. The Right to Life is the first of the human rights. Without it, all the others are moot. Human rights begin with the Unborn.

Our support for Pope Francis began the moment he first stepped out onto the papal loggia, bowed his head, and asked God’s people to bless him before imparting his first papal blessing on God’s people.

As the Vicar of Christ he alone holds the Keys; he alone has the authority, even without his brother bishops, to direct the Church that Christ built on Peter, and the abundant grace, that comes with his Divinely appointed Office, to fulfill his mission. Pope Francis sees the ‘bigger picture’ from those identified by his critics.

The root of the ‘real problem’ can be traced back to the rejection, fifty years ago, of Humanae Vitae.  We predict that fifty years from now, both Pope Francis and President Trump will be remembered as God’s messengers, chosen for this particular time to set humanity back on track after our infidelity, just as He has done throughout salvation history.

We will vote for President Trump again in 2020, and we will continue to pledge our fidelity to Pope Francis because, as faithful Catholics, in conscience, we cannot do anything else.
