Pope Francis: Defense of the Unborn is Primary

When the world is going to hell in a handbasket, why doesn’t Pope Francis speak out? Why doesn’t the Pope state clearly what the Church teaches? Why doesn’t he call out sinners by name and excommunicate them?

Where is Pope Francis? That is the question posed by the unread; those eyeless, earless creatures roaming the earth in search of their own answers.

And, of course, there is only one answer: The Pope is where he always has been and where he belongs, Rome, where he speaks daily, sometimes multiple times daily, to the whole world on the moral issues facing the Church and the world, including abortion.

The question ought to be: Who’s listening? Obviously not Ireland, or New York.

The ‘big’ Church news of the day today is Pope Francis affirming the defense of the Unborn as the primary social justice issue facing society.

Taking the occasion of meeting with the Board of Directors of Italy’s Pro-Life Movement to address politicians of all the nations of the world, Pope Francis affirmed again,

“I take this opportunity to appeal to all politicians, regardless of their faith convictions, to treat the defense of the lives of those who are about to be born and enter into society as the cornerstone of the common good”.

Cornerstone of the Common Good.  Babies take pride of place.

It doesn’t get any clearer or stronger than that.
